Back in the early days of blues music, a lot of musicians were blessed with fame and fortune and this lead to them spending times in casinos. Several artists turned to gambling as a way to have fun. BB King – always known for hitting the casinos and gambling with his money and then singing about it! The insanely famous BB King was known for not just being a great blues artist, but also for being an amazing songwriter and a record producer.
Buddy Moss – seen in lots of casinos gambling and known for his hit, the Prowlin’ Gamble Blues! Known for gambling away his blues, he was one of the most influential guitarists on the blues scene at the time. His guitarist skills influenced many others over time and became what he was known for.
Gladys Knight – She has always been known as the “Empress of Soul” who was seen in casinos with others giving away casino free spins to her. Not only known for her amazing voice, she is also known as a great songwriter and actress. Gladys has, over the years, won many Grammy awards.
Dave Van Ronk – known for the famous song St James Infirmary (Gamblers Blues), which was his known song, he always had the need to gamble and was a well known and important in the American Blues scene.
Gambling has always been famous or rather infamous in the blues scene and many blues artists have sung songs about the addiction. Today it is still a common part of the society and blues artists are still releasing songs on it.
